Amanda writes: Maverick will need at least two major open heart surgeries before he is 6 months old. We will be staying at hotels/family and eating out a lot as we are not being admitted as patients with Maverick. At this moment, he will likely be staying up here for a month. He is currently going through many tests and MRI’s, different ultrasounds for his little body to be cleared for cardiac surgery. He has three heart defects that will all require surgery at different times. The first surgery will be to correct his aorta as that is life threatening for him. We appreciate any and all thoughts and prayers! Anything to help save our baby, we appreciate more than words will ever say.
Here's our Sunday update from Amanda: We called last night before going to bed to check on him and the nurse said his breathing has become top concern at this moment. He is struggling to breathe due to the fluid build up. They put him in a diuretic to help with that. When we got here this morning, the nurses said that is their priority for today is his breathing. He is pushing the fluid out quickly so that diuretic seems to be helping. They are about to place his PICC line in now so we have to go hang out down stairs. He will need an X-ray after that to make it is placed correctly. After that is over we get to hold him and stay with him. Someone will be coming around 2 or 3 to do his abdominal ultrasound so that will clear him for cardiac surgery. Matthew and I were able to sleep last night and we are feeling much better today. I was able to pump some milk for him and they gave us labels for the bottles. They have already given him some. He has been able to take a paci as well and the nurse said this has helped him stay calm during the different things they have been doing. I was able to change his diaper this morning.
