Bless Dane’s Heart
Donation protected
Dane was diagnosed with Cardiospondylcarpofacial Syndrome after birth. Danes condition is extremely rare and has required multiple visits with specialists, time in occupational and physical therapy and ongoing evaluations for further understanding of this condition and interventions that may need to be done for him. Needless to say the Jay's plate was already extremely full caring for Dane and their two young daughters.
February 5th marks the first day of the Bless Danes Heart Journey. Dane was rushed by ambulance to Mission Hospital because he was struggling to breathe and aspirating on his flem. The ER ordered a chest X-Ray and an echo where they discovered he had pneumonia in his right lung and was in heart failure. Dane needed specialized care and was transferred to CHOC. He was sedated and a breathing tube was placed to ensure a safe transfer and allow his body to rest while they administered medications, antibiotics and pain medication.
On February 7th, after a few days of around the clock care, Megen and Chris received more heartbreaking news. Danes echo had shown no progress and talks of a potential heart transplant were on the table. Since CHOC is not a transplant hospital, their Doctor's thought it would be best to transfer Dane to UCLA and start the heart transplant workup which consists of labs and test etc.
On February 8th, Dane Arrived at UCLA via helicopter while his parents followed closely behind. The transport went smoothly, praise god. 3 hospitals, 2 ambulances and 1 helicopter ride later... Dane remains stable and Chris and Megen are meeting with the team of Doctors who are going to save their baby boy! With no time to waste, they begin to run additional tests, labs and another echo. At this time, the treatment plan is not clear, a heart transplant is not certain, but is a definite possibility.
There is no telling how long or hard the road ahead will be for Dane and the Jay's which is why we are asking for your help and prayers. Money donated will be used to cover additional living expenses incurred by temporarily relocating to LA while still having to cover rent, bills and all the normal living expenses. Any medical expenses that insurance may not cover, help looking over their two daughters and loss of wages as their main focus right now is supporting Dane on his journey to heal his sweet heart.
The Jay's want to thank everyone from the bottom of their hearts for the generous donations already received. Please continue to pray for Danes heart to be healed and for his family to find strength and comfort in these trying times.
"LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress." -Isaiah 33.2
