Vince was diagnosed with Pigmented Villonodular Synovitis Stage III with extensive involvement of his femur, tibia and posterior capsule

•      August 19th Vince went in for a routine total knee replacement with the less routine cancer removal.  The cancer had spread into his thigh muscle, ate through his patella and into his tibia.  The Dr. stated they were able to get good margins and get everything out but with the new development (how fast and how far it spread), radiation was no longer and option… it was the only option.  Tammy was told to expect Vince out of recovery in an hour or two. Four hours later, Tammy had heard nothing from the Dr. or recovery staff and called to find that Vince was having trouble stabilizing his oxygen levels which were dipping down in to the 70’s.  By hour 5, Tammy had become understandably angry at the lack of communication and demanded an answer on what was taking so long to wake Vince up and stabilize him.  It was then that she found out he was given an extraordinary amount of Fentanyl from which he was having a hard time metabolizing.  Once Vince finally made it back to his room, his blood pressure and oxygen levels were dangerously low and he was in agony.  He was unable to be given much pain medication because of his low oxygen levels which only made his pain even more unbearable.

•       By Day 2, Vince’s knee had swollen 3 times the size.  He was still experiencing an intense amount of pain, unable to regulate his breathing and also had low blood pressure issues.  Tammy walked in to see Vince in a lethargic state, yellowing of his skin and eyes which indicates liver issues.  She alerted the nursing staff who only then looked at him and agreed he needed to be tested.  Tests came back positive for Jaundice.

•       Day 3: Tammy arrived the hospital to find Vince’s leg even more swollen and what looked like blisters covering his leg.  The Dr. finally arrived to see Vince and determined that he needed an ultrasound to rule out a blood clot.  Tammy was also notified that Vince would need to be transferred to an orthopedic rehab facility once he was able to leave the hospital.

•       Day 4-Present: Vince has suffered multiple pulmonary embolisms, blood clots throughout his leg, and was taken down for an emergency fasciotomy to relieve pressure and swelling in his leg.  He was taken down to the cath lab to place a catch in order to prevent any blood clots from reaching his heart.

All medical bills associated with the Orthopedic rehab facility that Vince will have to be transferred to for at least 2 weeks will be 100% out of pocket.  Tammy is currently going between the hospital and home where she has 3 kids all in online school.  Let’s come together and do what we can for their family!  Share with whoever you can and most importantly, Pray
