Hi everyone. My name is Sharon Causey. I'm reaching out today for a hand up. I'll start by telling you that I've never done anything like this before in my life. I have found myself in a position though that requires me to think outside the box in a really big way. Just some background info.: During the recent pandemic, my husband & I went through it relatively well. We both had good jobs that enabled us to get by. Since the pandemic however, our situation has changed drastically in a downward spiral. We both are not in good physical health at all. In all actuality, that has been coming for a longtime now, unrealized by the both of us. My husband has been hospitalized for heart & lung issues 5 times since July. (3 months) He had 1/3 of his lung removed in 2019 and since then his heart has been working overtime to get enough oxygen to his body. His left ventricle is working somewhere between 40-45% at this point. It is looking like he will not be able to go back to work which has been the one thing that has always sustained him. That brings about a whole new host of issues, as well. And as far as myself goes, I have been in physical decline since I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure & pulmonary hypertension in February of 2022. I have also had arthritis for years now & have found myself in excruciating pain throughout my body at this point. I am barely able to walk now. I've had cortisone & gel shots, to no avail. The next step, according to my doctor, is double knee replacement. No insurance at this time is preventing that from happening. We both struggle to breathe due to respiratory illness . We have applied for SSDI and believe we will qualify. That process takes time though and right now we are looking at eviction in the next 6-7 days. Our rent, which we were able to pay before we both had to quit working, is 2 months behind. We are barely able to keep the utilities on & are a month behind with the second month coming due the end of this month. We are barely able to buy minimum necessities from the grocery store; we are not starving yet but we have very little. We've done everything we can or had to, to cut expenses including applying for emergency assistance from everywhere we could, to no avail. We've also had to turn in our 2nd vehicle because we simply couldn't afford to keep it. We've consolidated our bills, but that still requires a payment, which is becoming next to impossible to make.

Folks we are fixing to be homeless, and we won't even be able to move our belongings because neither one of us are physically able to do so. We have a lease that is coming to an end in January when we will, by the Grace of God, find a less expensive place to live & help to move, that is as long as we can get some help to stay till then; because whether we have to move or not, we'll still be legally responsible for the rent through then.

I am reaching out to see if there is anyone who can help us. We simply can't ask our families to keep helping us because they are not in a position to help us anymore and still be able to pay their own bills. I know there are people who can & will help us, if we only ask & explain why we are asking. God has been very good to us in our lifetime. We are too old to resort to living in our vehicle which we may have to do if that becomes our only option. If there is anyone who can & will donate to our cause, we will be very grateful. We do not drink or do drugs & I can assure you that any money that we receive will go to keep us from increasing the homeless population, to keep the lights & heat on this winter & keep food on our table, literally because we are out of options. This is my last-ditch effort to help ourselves because we don't have another way. For any & all help you can afford us, we are so very grateful that I can't express how much in mere words. We would be so thankful & I assure you we have been on the other side of this coin before. We will definitely pay it forward when we are back on our feet & in a position to do so. Which we have all faith will happen. It's just a matter of time. God did not pick us up just to see us fall. We live by that motto. It sustains us in times of difficulty. There is light at the end of the tunnel. We just ask that if you are in a position to help & can find it in your heart, please donate to our Go Fund Me.
