Blessing Fund for Chicago Nurse Midwife
Donation protected
Chicago is well known as a maternal health desert for many reasons. For Black women this reality is crushing. Birth options on Chicago's southside are continuously dwindling.
In 2021, Chicago Nurse Midwife will be open it's doors to the Southside of Chicago as the first and only operating Black owned home birth midwifery practice. This is a historical and radical celebration of reclaiming Black reproductive power.
This fund has been organized by the Chicago Birthworks Collective doula community as a love offering to support the launch of Chicago Nurse Midwife, Lakieta Edwards, CNM. It is our goal to gather our community together show our unwavering support and affirmation to a radical and groundbreaking midwife in her work to drastically increase access to high quality home birth support for Black families with Black midwives.
These funds will be distributed directly to Chicago Nurse Midwife for use obtaining essential equipment and tools to enhance her ability to provide the highest quality care to Black mothers and birthing people in Chicago.
We're extremely grateful that you've joined us in witnessing and affirming the significance of this moment by contributing towards this blessing fund!
