Donations for Debra’s Road to Recovery
Dear Family & Friends,
My name is Desiree and I have created this fundraiser for my beautiful, big-hearted mom Debra Garza. My mom is a woman of faith and the soul of our family. She has spent her entire life putting her family first, taking care of my younger brother that has special needs and my disabled dad. She has happily made her living as a home health-care provider, doing the most for each and every single one of her patients.
On Wednesday June 23rd, 2021 my mom was t-boned by a vehicle going 65-80 mph as she crossed the highway into our neighborhood. EMS transported her to Brooks Army Medical Center (BAMC) where she began to show stroke like symptoms while in the ICU. In need of a stroke specialist, she was immediately transferred to University Hospital. She is currently in the Neuro ICU being treated for a stroke. As of now she remains in a coma. Once cleared of her stroke she will be transferred back to BAMC where she will undergo treatment for her traumatic injuries some of which include skull and facial fractures, fractured ribs, etc.
The effects of this accident are devastating for our family. We have a long journey ahead of us and continue to pray that she will recover. However, with her extended stay, her personal expenses will go unpaid. We are asking for whatever amount is placed in your heart to help cover expenses some of which may include related travel, household needs, and non-covered medical, etc.
We are so appreciative for the love, prayers, and support shown over the last week and in the weeks to come.
