Kinsey's Medical Funds

Kinsey and Nathan enjoying some pool time before the accident.

As many of you already know, Kinsey was involved in a freak accident earlier in the week, causing her to become burned very badly. While cooking, the pressure of the boiling water created a suction with the lid that was on the pot. When Kinsey removed the lid boiling water shot up into her face, and down on to her body.

Kinsey Wootten is a stay at home mother to a one year old. Right now she is missing her baby, as she has spent the past few days in Chapel Hill's burn unit undergoing treatment and therapy for burns covering about 12% of her body. She has burns covering large portions of her stomach, leg, arm, and her face. Currently, Kinsey's husband, Stephen, and her mother are out of work so that they can stay by Kinsey's side to help her during this time. It is unknown at this point whether Kinsey will need surgery to the damage done to her stomach, as that is where the most severe burns are located. She is being monitored to see how well this area heals on its own before the doctors decide whether surgery is absolutely necessary. Her huband intends to stay at the hospital with her until this decision is made, and through the time she has surgery, if it comes to that. As Stephen is the sole provider for their family of three, finances to cover the cost of living, along with these new medical bills is an issue. Especially since he is missing out on work while he cares for his wife. After Kinsey is discharged from the hospital there will still be expenses of traveling back and forth to Chapel Hill to continue being treated, and monitored while her burns continue to heal during the next 6-12 months. Kinsey has applied for charity care, knowing that her husband's income will not cover the full amount of the medical expenses. While we are unsure of the true amount that will be needed to help in covering these expenses over the coming months, we are praying that they will be minimal, so we our setting the first financial goal pretty low. We are expecting these expenses to come to $3000-$4000, but this amount may change depending on the amount of time her body takes to heal, as well as the level of ongoing treatments that will be needed. The rest we are believing in God to provide for. Any amount will help. If just 4,000 people saw this and all gave a dollar, our goal would be exceeded. And with the power of social media and networking, that is more achievable than ever before. Even if you can't help, please send Kinsey and her family your prayers. And if you feel led to share this to your own social media account, we would so appreciate it. I will keep all of you updated as I become updated on Kinsey's situation. As of right now, her pain level has not been manageable and her heart is feeling very heavy during this time away from her precious son. We are praying for:
- all of her pain to be removed,
- healing to come to her nerve endings,
-and for the image of the pot exploding to be removed from Kinsey's mind, as well as from the minds of her son and Grandma who witnessed the incident.

I have included pictures below, some of which are very graphic.

Again, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your prayers and everyone who's helping during this time. I'm praying that God mulltiplies the blessing in your own life that you are extending to her life.

First, second, and third degree burns. This is the area that may require surgery. The burns are so bad they have caused damage to the nerve endings.
