Blind Rescue Dog Lucys Medical Costs
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Katrina and I am fundraising for help with medical costs for my blind Romanian rescue dog Lucy.
Lucy was found as a puppy living stray on the streets of Moldova. Fortunately her life was saved by kind rescuers and she ended up in the care of the Blind Dog UK rescue, from where I applied to adopt her in 2022. Due to the situation in Ukraine at the time, the government put a hold on animal transport so Lucys adoption was delayed by a whole year. After what seemed a lifetime, my beautiful girl arrived at her forever home with me.
Lucy is completely blind, and it appears to be a congenital defect as her eyeballs are not fully formed. She's adapted to her new life well, but in recent weeks we noticed a significant deterioration in her balance and co-ordination. She's been having hydrotherapy, and last week her X-Rays showed a narrowing of her spine which vets believed to be compressing her nerves.
A CT scan has since shown up a lesion on her brain which could be an arachnoid cyst or a cystic meningioma, but this can only be determined by a further MRI scan which is scheduled for later this week. As you can imagine, the costs so far have been extreme and she has already maxed out her insurance limit on both her current policy and her renewal policy before it has even begun.
When I brought Lucy to England, I did so promising her that I would do my best to give her the life and opportunities that she would not otherwise have had as a Moldovan/Romanian street dog. So, I am respectfully asking for donations or shares from anyone who can help so I can provide Lucy with any further diagnostics, therapy or treatment that she may require and to help with the high costs of the medical bills that we have already accrued.
Thank you for reading.
