Blind Veteran Alan Lock Runs For Beit Halochem

The Community's largest event is back on Sunday, 23rd June! This year, Beit Halochem UK will be represented at the Maccabi Community Fun Run by myself, Alan Lock. I joined the Royal Navy in 2002, but three years later, at the age of 24, I lost my sight due to a rare genetic condition forcing me to retire from the Armed Forces.

In 2023, I represented Blind Veterans UK at the Veteran Games in Israel. The Veteran Games programme was initiated to bring together wounded, sick, and injured veterans from both the UK and Israel.

Following the terror attack on 7th October, I, like many past participants of the Veteran Games, was left shocked and heartbroken by the suffering endured by the citizens of Israel.

This year, I will participate in the 10k Maccabi Fun Run alongside my guide for the day, Beit Halochem Project Manager David Thrilling. I am raising funds to support activities specifically designed for the blind Israeli veterans who consider Beit Halochem their second home.
