Blk Crcl Community Events

We are 1/3 of the way there! We'd love to reach our goal of $7000; raising this amount will help us lay the foundation for this work to continue for another year (and into the future). Please feel free to share this with anyone who might be called to help our cause.

Blk Crcl is a community-based organization that offers monthly healing circles, and community events and retreats for Black people. Our events and retreats are offered to the community free of charge because it's our dream to freely share these healing practices that are so deeply needed and have been gifted to us and others. Blk Crcl is run 100% on donations, grants, fund-raising, and operated through the give-back of Black women who love and honor this work.

We started this fundraiser for our Blk Crcl End of Year Healing Retreat and with the support 34 wonderful donors, we raised $2,285 and hosted a wonderful day retreat at The Ojai Foundation nourished with a cacao ceremony, yoga, guided nature-connection walks, music, lunch, and community council. Thank you all!

We are continuing our fundraiser to support Blk Crcl's ongoing work and pay for:

- Insurance (required)
- Monthly space rentals
- Workshops facilitators
- Refreshments
- Healing services (yoga, sound bath, music therapy resilience workshops, cacao ceremony, massage therapy, movement sessions etc.)

*All funds raised will be used to pay for Blk Crcl insurance, services, goods, materials, labor, space rentals, and cleaning fees to further the ongoing efforts of Blk Crcl events and monthly community circles.

What Called Us to Begin Our Journey:

The global pandemic and social uprisings of 2020 left no stone unturned or person unchanged. In a time of such profound loss and palpable grief, it felt necessary and urgent to cultivate more spaces of connection and community for Black people. Amber Deylon and Alea Wade envisioned an organization that would facilitate the generational healing of Black people. It was their dream to create programs that offer healing practices in support connection, community, nature-connection, resilience education and prioritize equity and access for Black communities impacted by historical and current systems of racial and social oppression.

Mentored by their teacher, Irasha Talifero, Blk Crcl held its first healing circle on June 14, 2020 in Ojai, CA. With support from Light and Space Yoga, Amber coordinated events every month. And in February 2021, through Alea’s partnership as a FIRE fellow with The Ojai Foundation, Blk Crcl hosted the first of now nine community circles and two retreats on the land in upper Ojai. May the healing continue.

With gratitude,
Alea
