BLM Billboard for La Grande, Oregon
Donation protected
Inspired by similar support in other Oregon communities, particularly the new Black Lives Matter billboard erected in Pendleton, Oregon. The La Grande Observer posted a news article about the Pendleton BLM billboard and the La Grande community's responsive comments were less than supportive (to say the least). So, La Grande is in need of its own BLM billboard to amplify the support and sentiment for the movement in our small town community of La Grande!
I’m Maria Carmichael and I grew up in La Grande and graduated from La Grande High School in 2001. After living in Hawaii for the last twelve years, I’ve returned to my hometown and wish to make an impact in the community. The billboard is currently up on I-84 in La Grande heading towards Pendleton. $6,000 was raised to keep this billboard up for a year. I’ve doubled the fundraising goal to keep this billboard up longer and/or put up another billboard in the area. Because Meadow Advertising considers BLM billboards "political,“ the rental amount must be paid in full upfront.
Any amount donated is much appreciated, and thank you for your support for this important movement!
