Bloodhound (Chuck Warden) Med Fund
Donation protected
My name is Tim Hastings and I have known Bloodhound for many years going back to the Cover's days. We have enjoyed the good fortune of discussing our shared passions for sports, his beloved Crimson Tide and my Maryland Terps over this time. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Bloodhound in Las Vegas some years ago and we enjoyed a couple of days together at the casinos along with Wire to Wire and Blood's wife Tracey.
Many of you at CTG are aware that Bloodhound is having some difficult medical problems right now and he has been diagnosed with Waldenström macroglobulinemia. Waldenström macroglobulinemia is a subtype of lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, is a rare, indolent B-cell lymphoma that occurs in less than two percent of patients with NHL. There are about 1,800 new cases of Waldenström macroglobulinemia diagnosed each year in the United States. The disease usually affects older adults and is primarily found in the bone marrow, although lymph nodes and the spleen may be involved. Lymphoma cells in the bone marrow grow and block normal cells, making it difficult for the bone marrow to produce normal amounts of red and white blood cells. Patients with Waldenström macroglobulinemia have a high level of a protein called immunoglobulin M (IgM) in their blood. High levels of IgM can cause hyperviscosity (thickening of the blood). Therefore the heart can not pump sufficient blood to body parts. Waldenström macroglobulinemia is an incurable disease, but is treatable.
We have a great community at CTG with a lot of caring members who have inquired about Blood and asked what they could do to help. Wire, Fondy and I discussed the appropriateness of setting up a Go Fund Me account to help Blood and Tracey during their time of need and decided it was a good idea. The donations will be used to help defray some of their medical expenses as Medicare Part D is not covering all of the medical costs associated with Blood's treatment. Our intention is to try and raise as much as we can in the next 30 days to help Blood and Tracey. This is a great time to help a friend in need and I know we can count on the generosity of the CTG Community and other friends to come through in this time of need.
Thanks,
Tim
