Blue Mountain Yoga Plus
Donation protected
In the summer of 2016, I purchased a yoga studio in Sequim, WA., reopening it under the name of Blue Mountain Yoga+. The “plus” meant that it was to be a place not only for yoga, but also for related spiritual and meditative pursuits. In the four years since, it has become a center of our community for the classes of several yoga instructors as well as classes in Tai Chi, providing monthly meditation and energy healing, and some special events and workshops. This has been a source of great satisfaction to me, and I believe the spiritual community has benefited, too, with many instructors and students commenting on the positive energy that they feel there. The energy that lives at the studio and in you is so amazing. Just ask anyone who has walked in the front door.
But now the studio is in danger of closing. As with many small businesses, it is difficult to know what to do in a time when we have had to remain closed because of COVID-19. I have never made a profit with the studio; it has been a labor of love, worth keeping open even at times when I have had to cover expenses out of my own pocket.
Now, under Phase 2, it is possible to reopen on a restricted basis, albeit with smaller classes and with the necessity of taking extra measures to insure the health and safety of our instructors and students. Still, the future is uncertain. There are rent and utilities to be paid, and on July 1st I must renew my liability insurance, a lump sum of over $500. This date - July 1st - has become my personal deadline, and the make-or-break deadline for this campaign. Although I have been an enthusiastic practitioner of yoga since right after 9/11, I am not a teacher and must depend on the monthly payments from my instructors as income. Over the next 6 months, I foresee a monthly shortfall of about $300 per month. Thus I am making this plea for additional funding from you, the friends of Blue Mountain Yoga+.
Anything you can contribute to keep Blue Mountain Yoga+ up and running in this difficult time would be so appreciated. I believe that its permanent closing would be a loss not just to me, but to all of our instructors and the more than 50 students who have come to enjoy the benefits from our classes and meditation groups. Yoga, Tai Chi, Pranic Healing and meditation offer our community a strong sense of togetherness and comradery which is much needed in this time of uncertainty. Please consider helping us out in this Go Fund Me campaign. With your help I hope to reopen on July 1, 2020.
And thank you in advance for anything you feel able to do.
Warmest regards,
Joni Johnson
