Club Members and Friends of Fencing,
For over the past decade, we have called our humble club off of Keithshire Way home. I remember relocating from the YMCA downtown to an old dance studio. Arriving at this new location, the families of Bluegrass Fencers’ had a significant amount of work cut out for them to make this place into a club. I was probably 14 at the time, but I remember everyone who came into the club to paint the walls, the efforts to lay down wood floors over the preexisting concrete, and the painstaking endeavor to raise the ceiling a few inches so that our flicks could go uninhibited.
Since the completion of these renovations in 2005, Bluegrass Fencers’ Club can boast countless local, national, and world championship medals, Olympic Game participants, young adults who have gone on to attend prestigious universities, and people who purely love the sport of fencing.
As people who love fencing and Coach Amgad, Gerek and I would like to spearhead a project to revamp the club. For us and for many others, the club has been a place where we have honed our skills, grown lifelong friendships, and have matured into the people we are today. We are extremely passionate about fixing up the club as a gift to coach, current fencers, and fencers of the future, and we would like to ask you to share in our interest.

What do we plan to do?
Our plans will evolve based off our ability to meet our fundraising goals, but below are some of our aspirations:
1. Paint the walls
2. Redo the floors and increase the number of strips
3. Replace the ceiling panels
4. Get repeaters so the lights will be at the end of the strips instead of hanging from the ceiling
5. Create a designated space for bag storage
6. Create a seating area for parents
7. Replace the mirrors
What is the timeline?
Based off of the competition season and already recruited help, our goal is to fundraise from May - July and take a week at the end of July to perform the changes.
What is the fundraising plan?
The gifts of friends and family will be our most important source of funding. Gerek and I also intend to run a few classes over the next couple months and direct all proceeds to this project.
