LSEHockey in solidarity with Anti-Racism and #BLM
LSE Hockey Club stands in solidarity with Anti-Racism and the #BLM movement
LSE Hockey Club stands in solidarity with George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery and all others who have fallen victim to systemic racism and police brutality, wherever in the world. We support the Black Lives Matter movement and hope those protesting are taking precautions and staying safe. Recent events are reflective of a systemic inequality that is engrained across all major institutions and in countries around the world. Racism has no place in our sport, in any sport, nor in society as a whole. We all have a role in this. As a club, we have a duty to use our privilege and our resources to contest injustice and promote inclusivity
We have launched a fundraiser in collaboration with Team GB Hockey player, Harry Martin. From Monday 8th June – 22nd June we will be aiming to run a collective 1000km and tracking our efforts on Strava.
We will be raising money for Show Racism the Red Card. Show Racism the Red Card is the UK’s leading anti-racism education charity, operating in schools, workplaces and at events. Their commitment to tackling racism in sport means that their cause is close to our hearts at LSEHC. Our target is to raise £1000, but we would love to smash this.
While we hope to raise as much as we can, it is also important that we raise awareness, and to do this, we have provided a collection of resources, consisting of educational resources, how to get involved, how to contribute to the cause, with and without money, and the websites for our chosen charities. These are available with the following link:
