This festival was founded to benefit the community by pushing the envelope in sharing positive representations of Black Muslims in Film & TV with global audiences. Our goal is to maintain control of the Black Muslim narrative, by creating quality content and authentic stories and characters. Support for this festival is support for creatives struggling to have their voices heard. This is a huge step towards changing the narrative of Muslims in America to include Black people and creating global platforms for Black Muslim people to shine.

From our inaugural festival, BMFF2018, "Butterfly Amidst Iniquity" was selected to screen and share a glimpse into the stories of Black Muslim Women. Take a peek into the world of two very different Black Muslim women from Los Angeles, CA, who share the same trifecta: Black. Muslim. Female.
