NEW HQ APPEAL - UPDATE!
https://www.breconmrt.co.uk
We’re the Brecon Mountain Rescue Team – a Volunteer run and self-funded organisation. We’re a team of 60 people from all walks of life; engineers to paramedics; teachers to printers; tradesmen to farmers. We share the common passion of wanting to help people in difficult situations in remote and wild areas of South & Mid-Wales, and to support the safe use and enjoyment of our countryside. Our activities cover a vast area of 700 square miles.
Our team of highly trained professional volunteers provide a 24/7, 365 days a year emergency rescue service. We provide specialist search, medical, and rescue services, working closely with the Police; Ambulance and Fire services when they are unable to find, reach or rescue those in need.
As well as finding, treating, and rescuing walkers, climbers, mountain bikers and kayakers; we also assist the most vulnerable in our communities - people living with dementia, people who are depressed, flood victims, and missing children. Sadly, we also retrieve the bodies of victims of suicide to return them to their loved ones.
Every year we’re called to respond to over 100 incidents, and we’re seeing an increase in calls. Our current HQ is now too small. As well as causing significant operational challenges, it restricts our ability to grow our team, expand our educational outreach work; and it impedes our vital team training.
We have planning permission for a new HQ, double the size of the existing one, and the project is ready to go once we have the funds in place. We’ve already raised £1m towards the £1.1m costs, so we have launched this “£99k for a 999 service” campaign to raise the final amount needed.
VIP Ambassador Kate Humble:
“Brecon Beacons Mountain Rescue team members give up their time on an entirely voluntary basis. Their dedication, professionalism and generosity has saved hundreds of lives over the years and never more so than in recent times. The work they do for this community and its visitors is vital and invaluable. I’m delighted to give them and their fundraising campaign my wholehearted support.”
PLEASE HELP US TO HELP YOU & GIVE GENEROUSLY!
THANK YOU
