Boarding for Shelter Dogs
Tax deductible
You’ve heard this many times: fostering saves lives. Which is absolutely true and so important! But sometimes when shelter kennels are full and a foster can’t be found immediately, a short term solution to save lives is boarding for a few days. Whether a dog is on her way to a rescue or to a foster, short-term boarding can give all the people pulling for that dog just enough time to make magic happen. Los Alamos Friends of Shelter and Companion Animals has been teaming up with Rendija Dog Hikes this year to pay for short term boarding for dogs in need — dogs from our community and from Espanola Humane. We’ve also been incentivizing rescues to accept special needs transfer dogs (with conditions like Heartworm) by sending donations toward treatment. But we need more funds to continue this work! Can you help us board a few more dogs?
Any funds not used toward boarding will be used toward our other mission, to help pets with low-income owners receive veterinary care and to fund low-cost spay/neuter services.
