Bob Beaudry's Journey - Invictus Games 2023

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Christine Rochon and I am seeking your support to help out a friend, Bob Beaudry, to cover expenses for training and travelling to the Invictus Games in Germany in September 2023. He is an injured veteran who has been selected as one of 30 veterans to represent Canada from over 5000 applicants of injured veterans who are all on the road to becoming stronger both mentally and physically.

Bob served as a Medic with the Canadian Armed Forces between 1989 and 2009 in Halifax, Ottawa, Petawawa, and Edmonton. He was deployed overseas on five tours which included in the former Yugoslavia both in Croatia and Bosnia, in the former Persian Gulf War (Saudi Arabia and Kuwait) as well as with NATO for a six-month tour.
As a result of his military service, Bob was diagnosed with PTSD as well as a couple of physical injuries.

At present, Bob continues to serve his country as a civilian in his role as Peer Support Coordinator for other veterans who have injuries and homeless veterans at Veteran House. Bob has also served his community for many years in many ways including coaching both girls' and boys' hockey teams.

Bob will compete in three sports – wheelchair rugby, swimming, and archery – at the Invictus Games in September 2023 in Germany. Bob does not use a wheelchair himself but playing wheelchair rugby in one is a requirement of his participation. Veterans with a variety of injuries, both visible and invisible are all learning about each other's challenges in their journeys as they train and compete together.

To train for these sports, Bob has many expenses that he is paying out of pocket, which include a gym/pool membership fee, equipment costs, archery club membership fees and travelling expenses. In addition, he is hoping to be able to bring his family with him for moral support, if at all possible. Only two others besides himself are covered by the Soldier On Foundation.
Your financial and moral support will help Bob continue on his journey of recovery through sport. Bob has only recently revealed his injuries publicly and needs our support now more than ever.

Here is a quote from Bob:
“ When I was selected as part of Team Canada for the 2023 Invictus Games in Duesseldorf, Germany, I had an overwhelming sense of pride. Not only because I get to represent my country again, but I also get to come out from the shadows where I have been for a long time. I cannot express enough how thankful I am for all the support I have received from my family and friends … ”

Please consider supporting this special veteran with his training and travelling expenses. It would also be appreciated if you could share this Bob Beaudry GoFundMe link with your friends and family and share this wonderful news.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you on Bob’s behalf,
Christine Rochon - Family Friend
