___________
Hi Folks. Bob Bennett here with a few thoughts about this crowdfunding campaign. EVERLASTING DAY is the title of my eleventh solo album. I started playing music at age ten. Fifty-nine years down the line and I’m so gratified to still be writing songs, playing and singing, touring, weekly livestreaming for the past four-and-a-half years, and most importantly for this campaign, recording again.
I’m delighted to be working once more with my dear and talented friend Roy Salmond at Whitewater Studio in Surrey, BC. We’re about two-thirds of the way through the recording process. The long and short if it is … it’s essential for me to crowdfund remaining expenses to help to get everything done. This time around (as opposed to the last few projects), the whole thing is being crowdfunded by people just like you. You’re no doubt familiar with this crowdfunding concept and may have even supported me in the past in this way.
Yet to be done are more recording sessions, hiring musicians, mixing, mastering … travel, lodging, and food expenses while abroad … and cover art for a basic CD release. And my dedicated and hardworking recording-partner-in-crime needs to be paid for his time and expertise. (By the way, he’s giving me the deal of a lifetime on virtually everything he puts his hand to …)
The amount of money raised will determine some artistic decisions as well. Can we hire real string players? Can I enlist the help of other talented musical friends for instrumental overdubs and background vocals? Can I commission artwork?
So, hopefully, this is where you come in. Whether it’s five dollars, a whole lot, or anything in between, the cliché “every little bit helps” is absolutely true here. The last time I did this sort of thing, CDs sales were waning but still somewhat viable. Now, compact discs are a specialty item. Of course, we’ll do a short-run, limited CD release for donors and to accommodate a first wave of buyers. But it’s absolutely a different musical landscape out there than ever before.
Eventually, if all goes well, EVERLASTING DAY will be available by way of all the usual streaming places you already know of. These days, most of us tend to listen to almost everything by way of Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora, YouTube, etc.
Elena and I would be most appreciative if you’d consider supporting this effort. In past fundraising campaigns, there were “rewards” for certain levels of giving. GoFundMe is totally different in that regard (they simply don't allow it) … BUT with GoFundMe, I can keep whatever is raised even if the entire goal isn’t quite reached. (Kickstarter is all-or-nothing.) I have my prayers crossed that we can meet our $15,000.00 goal.
So, I’m simply hoping for your kind consideration and participation to help me as generously as you can so I’m able to, literally, bring this on home. (And I will commit to getting all donors either a digital download or, for $25.00 or more, a first-release CD copy. Thank you so much for wading through this story. I hope to bring you new music that might become a part of your listening soundtrack!
SOME VERY FINE PRINT: I’m not a non-profit, so I can’t offer a tax deduction for most gifts. BUT IF you want to give $500.00 or more and live in WA. CA, TX, CO, or OK, an arts support foundation I’ve worked with in the past has to agreed to accept checks sent directly to them, pass the funds to me, and issue you a tax-deductible receipt. DO NOT do that here on GoFundMe … email me for more details. Or if you’d feel more comfortable donating directly to me with no other go-between, please email me at:
