Bob Faegre Needs a New Car

Hi, my name is Claire Canavan and a small group of friends are trying to raise $16,000 to buy a new (used) car for Bobby to continue in his Uber business. So far, we have pledges of $6,000 from six individuals, and with your help (whatever amount you can contribute will be appreciated!), we can turn over the keys to Bob so he can keep going to work every day.

Some of you have known Bobby forever and could have written a much longer version of this story. Before I met Bob, I was a fan of Faegre's Restaurant. I didn't get to know Bob personally until we were neighbors on Humboldt, nearly 25 years ago. Our front door was always open to Bob and we saw him fairly often in those days. He became affectionately known in our family for his sunny and upbeat outlook, and we have grown closer over the years.

Gradually I learned that Bob had encountered a series of misfortunes since his Faegre's and Urban Wildlife days. His last endeavor, Bob's Pizza, was set to open on the West Bank when the 9/11 attack shook our world and shut down our social life. Bob's capital was lost and he had to find another business that didn't require a big upfront investment. He has always leaned toward entrepreneurial pursuits and found that Uber offered him the opportunity to be his own boss, meet interesting people, set his own hours and continue to be self-sufficient. He has developed a strategy to be in the right place at the right times to create a steady flow of business.

Here's the problem: Both Uber & Lyft require that every driver have a vehicle that is ten years old or less, and Bob's trusty Ford Escape has just hit the limit. He needs a "new" used car, model year 2019 or later, that will solve this problem. With your generous donation to the cause, we can keep Bobby driving and financially independent.
