In Memory of Robert Gallagher

My name is Kelly Gallagher, and I'm fundraising on behalf of my family. My Dad, Bob, had a large subdural brain bleed that caused him to need emergency neurosurgery at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. He has been in the neurosurgical ICU for over a month and will most likely require another few weeks of ICU care. He initially made substantial progress. He was able to breathe on his own and was waking up and communicating with us. Unfortunately, he suffered several setbacks, including aspiration pneumonia and a GI bleed that caused him to go back on the ventilator. My mom, Colleen, and I have moved to Boston to be by my Dad's side.

To be with my Dad daily, we have had to take a leave of absence from work. This decision has allowed us to provide him with the love and support he needs as we navigate his complex medical situation. His doctors and we are hopeful that he will make a good recovery because of our direct and daily support. We also know that once he is medically ready, he will need extensive rehabilitation and our presence and support even more.

This heartbreaking situation has caused my family's household income to decrease and our day-to-day expenses to increase. From parking fees to medical bills, the financial toll is overwhelming. We have started a GoFundMe as this fight is too big for us to do on our own. Any assistance you can give is so greatly appreciated.
