BOB HUCKEBY need our help now!

Donation protected

Hello my name is John Marshall, and I am a very fortunate square dancer and caller who benefited greatly from the generosity of our wonderful square and round dance family. Some years ago, when I was very sick, the dance community did for me what it does best… “we take care of our own”! Now I’m pleased to be able to start the process of helping one of our own. Please read below about what Bob Huckeby is experiencing and you’ll see why he needs our help so badly.

Bob Huckeby has been involved in square and round dancing since 1957, starting at the age of 12. He has been a caller and round dance instructor since about 1960. He has written over a dozen round dances and he and his ex-wife taught and cued rounds locally, regionally, and nationally for over 10 years. In 2011, Bob became the primary owner operator of the Dancing Delight business through which he provided portable flooring for national, state, and regional conventions or festivals nationwide as well as in Canada. He ran his business for over 12 years. Once Covid hit, many dance events were canceled, and Bob struggled to meet his business expenses, debt and general business overhead. He worked to meet these financial obligations, but that effort became more difficult when he developed prostate cancer, heart disease, asthma, and worsening diabetes. In 2021 Karen, his 13-year life partner
was diagnosed with advanced Leukemia. Without further business income, Bob’s challenge has been to keep up with the debt, plus the current square and round dance environment has kept him from being able to sell many of his remaining business assets. All together that debt coupled with his medical bills have overwhelmed his ability to continue making payments. He is paying for the portion of his medical bills not covered by insurance, which is now an amount well over $20,000. He has also had to pay for major home appliance and personal auto repairs. As things continue to deteriorate, the fear of possibly losing the house becomes of greater concern every day.

Bob said if he could get around $40,000, he would be able to pay off the current medical, business, auto and major appliance debt. Then, between Social Security and his small pension he expects to be able to keep his head above water while meeting his obligations.

He has spent virtually 100% of his daytime hours taking care of Karen since she was diagnosed two years ago. He thanks’ God Karen’s insurance and Social Security pays for her medical and nursing home fees. The dark side is that she needs to use the coverage at all.

Bob has been a true supporter of the square dance community for most of his life and he is asking anyone who can to please help in any way you are able, as soon as you can. Bob also requests that you forward the Go Fund Me link (shown below) to your dance friends and associates.

All prayers and positive thoughts for Bob are greatly appreciated!

On behalf of Bob,
Thank you so very much!
