Team BT - cancer care costs; keep BTs legacy alive

Donation protected
Bob Tufts passed away peacefully due to complications related to treatment of Multiple Myeloma.

As many of you know, Bob was a relief pitcher for the San Francisco Giants (1981) and Kansas City Royals (1982-1983) and a Wall Street executive. For the last decade, and since he was diagnosed with MM in 2009, Bob was a professor of business strategy, entrepreneurship and sports management at several New York universities (including NYU, Manhattanville and, most recently, the Sy Syms School of Business at Yeshiva University where he was honored with the Lilian F. and William L. Silber Professor of the Year Award for 2017-2018).

He was also a fierce advocate for patients in fighting for coverage of medical innovations like those that kept him alive. He co-founded My Life Is Worth It, through which he wrote, spoke and advocated on behalf of patients, doctors and innovative medical treatments that would ultimately both cure diseases and bring down costs.

Bob also personally counseled dozens of people battling multiple myeloma, an dinspired many with rare diseases through his engaging Twitter account detailing his journey. He helped them face their deepest fears and obtain the care best for them and their families. He wrote for numerous national publications and was a sought after speaker for both lay and professional audiences. Above all he was a loving husband and father.

Since Bob’s passing, there has been a flood of condolences and prayers for him and his family. Numerous people have also asked about donations in Bob’s memory.

MM and blood/bone cancers are not only vicious but highly expensive and even good insurance doesn’t cover the many ancillary costs that immune-compromised patients and their families face. We would be deeply grateful for any assistance you could provide in filling this need.

Proceeds will be used to cover the expenses related to Bob’s medical and supportive care and to further his work through “My Life Is Worth It” so that although he is no longer with us, his legacy will stay alive and patients will still get the fierce advocacy he spearheaded.

We thank you in advance for joining TeamBT and coming together to help and honor our beloved friend, husband and father.
