Boy under the billboard, Bobby & Myong Whitt
Donation protected
Robert Adam Whitt was born January 7, 1988. He was a smart, beautiful, little boy with a bright smile and gentle heart. On July 29, 1998 his light was snuffed out, murdered at the hands of his father. His remains were dumped under a billboard in North Carolina. He remained unidentified for 20 years, a cold case, earning him the moniker “The Boy Under The Billboard.” Breakthrough DNA testing through Ancestry linked Bobby to our family and we have finally, with the help of an unwavering detective, been able to piece Bobby’s story back together.
Myong Hwa Whitt, Bobby’s mother and wife to his father was also just linked back to Bobby through DNA testing. Her remains were discovered May 13, 1998 in South Carolina. She also remained unidentified for the last 20 years, yet another cold case.
Our family has been devastated to learn that Bobby and Myong were no longer with us. Bobby’s father had told everyone that Myong had taken Bobby back to Korea to raise him. We believed him. Now we need to bring them both home.
One of the most heartbreaking details is that their remains sat unidentified and in separate locations, Myong in South Carolina and Bobby in North Carolina, for the last 20 years. The two were unable to be brought together or laid to rest until now.
This GoFundMe is to raise funds to finally reunite mother and son and to lay them to rest together in the cemetery beside Bobby’s Grandmother who loved him dearly. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless.
Our family would like to further extend our bottomless gratitude to Detective Tim Horne and his team for making sure Bobby was never forgotten, for never giving up hope, for bringing justice forth, and for bringing them home.
