Bobby Barr rehab and relief fund
Donation protected
Sunday evening, my Dad, Bobby, was helping my brother take metal off the roof of a trailer. He was taking screws out of the middle section, leaving the top section till last. Unfortunately, the piece he was on did NOT have screws in the top and down he went! He rode the piece of metal down the roof, landed on the carport, then down to the ground landing on the concrete sidewalk.
He’s currently in UofL
He ended up with a broken left arm up by his shoulder, a large laceration on his left elbow, 2 fractures in his pelvis, 5 broken ribs, and lots of bruising.
He had surgery, Monday morning on his arm, receiving a plate and about 8 screws. The pelvis & ribs are just healing on their own.
They finally got him in a room Monday around midnight.
He had therapy this morning to get him up and walking but was in too much pain just trying to stand, so to be continued…
They plan on releasing him from the hospital Thursday. If not to go home (he’d have to have major improvements on standing & walking) then to a rehab center for a few days.
It’s going to be a long road to recovery. The pelvis and ribs will take a few weeks. The arm will take a few months.
If you know my dad, he’s a busy body!
He works full time and mows yards in the evening/on wknds. He’s active in church, volunteering for dinners/events, working Rec’s, AND he plays bass in the band on Sunday mornings. He’s involved with NH sports, running the scoreboard or working the chains in football. Always on the go!
He enjoys boating and golfing in his spare time. It’s going to be tough for him to do nothing! He just made a comment that it “sucks to be helpless”. Insurance is not covering much if at all for rehab/therapy.
Please send your prayers and positive vibes for a quick recovery and patience to heal properly!
