Aussie 1st: Bobby's Everest climb in 2025 with MS
Donation protected
I'm Bobby Barjram and I will be the first Australian with a severe disability to summit Mt. Everest in 2025.
With this climb, I will also become the oldest Australian with a disability to reach the peak.
At the age of thirteen in 1980, I was the first Australian diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Today, I am legally blind and require a wheelchair or walking stick to move about.
Ever since I was diagnosed, I promised myself that I would climb to the top of the world and see the blue sky. With this dream, I hope to show the world the possibilities available to anyone living with a disability.
On my journey to summit Everest, I've become the first person with a severe disability to complete "The Triple": Everest Base Camp, Mt Kala Patthar and Mt Lobuche East.
Now it's time to tackle Everest. And, I need your help to get me there.
The climb will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars as I require an extensive team of medical practitioners, mountaineers and support professionals to safely complete the climb.
I had planned to complete the climb in early 2021, however, COVID-19 placed a spanner in the works with the travel restrictions. Now, I have my sights set on 2025.
To summit Everest will be no mean feat, firstly I need to finalise a deposit of $100k. I'm asking for your support to help me get there. I want you to be a part of my journey to prove that living with a severe disability is not a limitation to climbing the world's highest peak.
Please share, donate and follow my journey. Together, let's take on the world's greatest climb!
