Bobby Gunter’s End of Life Expenses

Hi. My sister and I lost our dad today, totally and completely unexpected after a massive cerebral hemorrhage. Our dad Bobby was born and raised in Okmulgee, attending Okmulgee schools and from then moved to Henryetta, where he worked at Henryetta Hospital for many years, coached numerous little league teams, played Santa Claus more years than we can count, went pipelining from the early 2000s until he had a stroke in May 2018. At that time, our dad had the stroke and they found he was in liver and kidney failure. We watched our dad suffer for years while awaiting transplants. That day came just a couple months ago in April 2021. We thought we were out of the woodworks with his sicknesses and we had our “normal, healthy”dad back, finally. Our world was turned upside down when we were told he was eating lunch yesterday 6/24 & then went completely unresponsive. He had CT scans done which showed MAJOR bleeding on the brain, in excess of 6oz of blood. The bleeding caused his brain to shift 12+ mm (they explained that 5mm is usually life ending) & that our dad was essentially brain dead. Talk about a blow to the stomach and our hopes and dreams for the future ripped away. My sister and I made the decision to follow our dad’s living will wishes and after everyone was able to say their goodbyes, we started comfort care this morning and our dad passed peacefully right before noon today 6/25. Our dad had started paying for his funeral/cremation expenses but hadn’t finished paying for those yet. Any donation will go straight to his final costs & to give our dad exactly what he wished for at the end of his life.
