Bobby Hiner Struck By Truck;
Donation protected
On January 5th, 2015, our good friend and TV colleague, Bobby Hiner, was struck and run over by a dump truck in his hometown. The driver never stopped, and left Bobby lying in the road.
Bobby's pelvis was crushed, and he had many internal injuries. Bobby was rushed to surgery, barely hanging on to life. He spent the next 3 weeks in a coma.
Bobby endured numerous surgeries, in the end both of his legs had to be amputated.
He spent four and a half months in a Trauma Center, and another four and a half months working hard to rehab his body... his hospital and rehab bills are staggering ...the driver that struck him didn't have any insurance. Bobby needs help paying his medical bills.
Bobby will need to purchase a powered wheel chair, a handicapped accessible vehicle, and his house will need extensive modifications to make it liveable for him.
Bobby has always been the "go to guy", covering the News in the NY tri-state area for over 35 yrs. His smiling face and good cheer are familiar to all in the NYC Press Corp. His spirits are still amazingly strong, but he is still facing the battle of his life.
Please make a donation.
Remember that smiling face on the riser next to you at City Hall, and that guy who helped you save face by sharing his video when you couldn't make it to the presser on time... despite his extensive injuries he still says..."You know, after 30 plus years in this business, I still LOVE this job!"
Please make a donation and spread the word throughout the city to help!
Below is the link with the latest info regarding the recent court sentencing of the driver..
