Bobby Huff's Medical Fund
This man is my father.
On the 12th of October, he fell ill while at work at the WSVS radio station in Crewe. He suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. I responded as a member of the fire department and was part of the first arriving responders to the 911 call placed by his co-workers. Through the combined efforts of Crewe Fire Department, the Crewe Police Department, members of Burkeville Fire Department, and Nottoway County Emergency Squad, we were able to restore a pulse on him and get him stable enough to fly him out through the State Police Medflight program.
He currently is in Chippenham in the CCU in critical condition. Currently, the hospital is ending a twenty-four hour period of hypothermia, where they cool the body way below it's normal temperature in an attempt to help him recover.
I do not know if he will be able to live through this.
I have been overwhelmed by the positive responses from my fellow co-workers, my emergency services family, and friends. What is the most overwhelming is the realization of the impact that my father has had in the community through his years as a fire department member, a Nottoway County 911 dispatcher, through his time employed locally, and here recently his position as an employee at WSVS 97.1 FM.
A lot of people have been asking me that if they can help in any way to let them know. I'll be honest, I haven't had a single clue on how to answer that question. I was never one to ask for help. I've also never have had to deal with the seriousness of having a family member literally be a death's doorstep either.
After much thought, I can only respond with this.
I ask for everyone's thoughts and prayers. Any love and energy that can help make a difference can and will. I'm also asking for any donations that will be set up for his medical bills. He did not carry health insurance and this period is going to be a challenge for the both of us. Anything that is donated will be of a huge help and I don't have any way to express how truely grateful I am.
I will be posting updates when I get them on my Facebook.
Again, thank you very much for the love and support.
Sincerly,
Steven Huff
