Bobby Singleton House Fire

The streets and sidewalks department would like to ask for help for one of our employees who lost almost everything in the house fire on Reid St on 10/3/22. Bobby has been part of the City of Charleston since 2017 and works as a construction worker in our streets and sidewalks department. Bobby is a great asset to the City of Charleston and is always willing to help anyone in need. Bobby will be staying with a relative for the time being as he lost almost all of his belongings in the fire.

Fire investigators are still working to determine the cause of a fire that damaged an abandoned two-story home and also an adjacent building Where Booby lived Monday afternoon.

The fire, in the 30 block of Reid Street, was reported to Charleston County 911 dispatchers at 2:29 p.m. The damage the fire caused to the neighboring building will displace Bobby and Two other residents of that building

Charleston firefighters arrived within three minutes and saw a significant fire at the two-story home. Additional units from the Charleston, Mount Pleasant and North Charleston Fire Departments responded to assist.

When the fire began to spread to a building next door, firefighters called in a second alarm, which brought units from the Charleston, James Island, St. Andrews and North Charleston Fire Departments. It took approximately 45 minutes to bring both fires under control
