Bobby’s Perineal Urethrostomy (PU) Surgery

Hello, my name is Aiden and I am fundraising for my cat Bobby’s life-saving surgery. Bobby is an 8-year-old Manx orange tabby who is incredibly sweet. He is an amazing emotional support animal and an all around great li’l guy. In the last week, poor Bobby has had three urethral obstructions due to a buildup of crystals in his bladder and urine. He has been to the emergency vet 4 times in one week to have these obstruction removed so that he would not die.

So far Bobby’s vet expenses have totaled over $3700, and the vet is recommending PU surgery to prevent these obstructions from continuously reoccurring. This surgery involved removing the narrowest part of the urethra in order to allow crystals and stones to pass through without obstructing. Urethral obstruction is deadly if left untreated for even just a few days. Depending on the specialist who performs the surgery, it is predicted to cost between $4k-$6k. I have a care credit card but am nearing my credit limit, and have already received a generous donation from a local emergency pet fund that went directly towards one of Bobby’s vet visits this past week. I will be calling vets and specialists over the next day or two to get a more precise quote and I hope to schedule his surgery ASAP before he reobstructs again.

Aside from the bladder crystals and blockages, Bobby is quite a happy and healthy kitty. He loves to play chase, snuggle, lay belly-up in the sunshine, watch squirrels through the window, and shadow me everywhere I go around the house. It seems unfair to even consider having him put down when he has so much potential for a long and healthy life after this surgery is performed. That being said, I am already in over my head in debt and cannot afford any more of these vet bills on my own, so I’m asking for your help. I can’t imagine my life without Bobby, and I want to give him every chance for a happy and healthy life that I can.

I know these are tough times for so many of us. Any little bit helps, and sharing this fundraiser as far and wide as we can would be incredibly helpful as well. I am hoping to meet the goal to pay for his PU surgery as well as pay off some of the current medical debt that has accrued this past week.
