Bob the Elk Carving and Fundraiser
Donation protected
The residents of the wonderful community of Youbou, BC, are lucky enough to live among the magnificent Roosevelt Elk. One of the longtime local bulls, Bob, is a staple and a familiar face in our community, making his presence known by resting in the parks, visiting people's yards, and walking along the edges of the roads.
We think the protection of the elk is of the utmost importance and would love to see a carving of Bob erected in one of our parks to help raise money for them! A carving would be not only beautiful but would help draw some attention to our community and the elk residents. We hope it will also serve as a method to fundraise for the protection of the elk and their habitat and bring attention to their need for protection.
We get a lot of tourists here during the summer and feel a life-sized Bob carving would be a great tourist attraction too!
I have located a local artist who is willing to donate time and crafting skills in order to make this a reality for our town. However, we need help for costs associated with the purchase of wood, sealing and protection supplies, as well as supplies to build a protective cover and retaining wall to help with preservation!
All other funds raised will be donated directly to the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation or another equitable source that will ensure the livelihood of the elk for future generations.
