Bocas Barks

Almost all of us passed a stray before that we really wanted to help, but couldn't cause
of either a lack of space, money or time so why not get together and help each other to
help our animals? :)
We are a small group of 5 living in a beautiful caribbean island archipelago called Bocas
del Toro in Panama.
Individually we all helped out stray dogs and cats over the past few years with,
vaccines, spay and neuter, vet care and of course finding homeless animals new loving
homes.
Unfortunately here in Bocas del Toro there are no shelters, rescue organisations, or any
other kind of hope for animals in need, only a few caring citizens who do as much as
they can to try educate people and take animals off the streets. There is pretty much no
side to turn to when we find just another dog on the side of the road, hit by a car or
looking for some food scraps behind a dumpster.
So we gotta do it ourselves!
We, “the few people” met and decided to get together to build up a foster community, to
help those animals in need, to get them off the streets, to get them the vet care, and the
love and attention they so desperately are looking for and of course to set up spay and
neuter events to reduce the number of “unwanted” dogs on the streets.
We share our time, our money, our skills, and back each other up to help the dogs and
cats of Bocas del Toro.
So next time we do pass a stray we really wanted to help on the streets there are
actually quite a few people to turn to.
This is obviously very costly especially cause we live on an Island and we are
confronted with not only the expensive vet care and food costs but also the extra
shipping fees.
We would like also to get a website to reach more people and to be more specific and
transparent with what we are doing and where exactly your ( :) ) donations would run to.
So please help us to help the strays of Bocas del Toro, cause one violin alone doesn’t
make an orchestra.
