Bodi Bussell Hospital Fund

On January 17th 7-month-old Bodi Bussell was admitted to Utah Valley Hospital with RSV where he was immediately put on oxygen. Quickly, things took a turn for the worse.
A couple of days later, he found himself suffering from Pneumonia and a Pseudomonas infection in his trachea and voice box. With these new problems came new challenges and our sweet boy had to be admitted into the PICU where he was sedated and given a feeding tube as he wasn’t able to eat on his own and his oxygen levels were very low. Being under sedation made it so his parents, Kylie and Jared, weren’t able to pick him up and comfort him and could only hope he could feel their presence and kisses.
The Board of Infectious Diseases has been looking at his case and monitoring him closely as these symptoms and infections are quite rare. Especially for a baby.
Come February 1st Bodi was transferred to the PICU at Primary Children’s hospital where they found a clot that had formed in his brain and he has been put on blood thinners to reduce the clotting.
Now, after over 20 days in the PICU, he has been moved into a normal room where he was taken off oxygen and is awake- his parents are finally able to hold him again! But there is still a long road ahead of him. He will continue to be monitored for a few days while he is being weaned off the sedation and medication he has been on. Once he is released from the hospital he will still need to be given blood thinner injections twice daily for 6 weeks as well as be on antibiotics to continue fighting the infections.
This has been an incredibly stressful situation for the family and as can be imagined, comes with a large stack of hospital bills that is growing higher every day.
Kylie, who works as a teacher, hasn’t been able to work while she has stayed by Bodi’s side. Jared, who is active in the hockey community, has been able to pick up a few games to ref in order to try and keep them afloat with their two other kids.
Please help to relieve the financial pressures and emotional stress that are coming so they can focus on helping their baby recover. Any amount of money is endlessly appreciated, no matter how small.
