Help Our Community’s Safety with Body Cam Needs
Donation protected
In our ongoing commitment to safety, transparency, and accountability within the Parkersburg community, we are launching a fundraising campaign to equip the Wood County Police Department with body cameras. These vital tools are critical in protecting both our law enforcement officers and the citizens they serve. By enhancing transparency and trust, we can work together to create a safer environment for everyone.
The Need
Every day, our police officers make split-second decisions that can have a lasting impact on our community. While their intentions are always to serve and protect, misunderstandings can arise, and accountability is paramount. Body cameras will:
Enhance transparency: Providing clear evidence during interactions between officers and the community, fostering trust and accountability.
Protect our officers: Documenting encounters can protect officers from false allegations, ensuring they can do their jobs with peace of mind.
Improve training and procedures: Recorded footage can be used for training purposes, helping to refine police strategies and community engagement tactics.
Goals
We aim to raise $50,000 to fund the procurement of body cameras, associated software, and necessary training for our police department. Here’s how the funds will be allocated:
$35,000 – Purchase of high-quality body cameras
$10,000 – Data storage and management system
$5,000 – Training and implementation costs
