Bohn Farm Development Legal Fund

Donation protected
Hi, we're a group of your Bohn Farm neighbors committed to ensuring responsible development on the historic 5 acre Bohn Farm site at the very center of our neighborhood.

A Denver-based developer has submitted an application to the City of Longmont for a new development on the site. The current plan is for 65-75 units on the site, all monolithic 6-plex structures 3 stories high with rooftop decks. Obviously, this is vastly out of character with the rest of the neighborhood. A group of us has been working to influence city planners to A) lower the density of the development B) lower the height of the buildings C) ensure adequate on-site parking for all residents and guests, and D) provide for ample open space and pocket parks within the development. We believe our objectives are supported by, even demanded by the City Plan (Envision Longmont) as well as Longmont’s Municipal Code.

In order to continue to try to influence this process, we feel it’s important to hire the consulting services of a land use attorney. At this stage, we’re not developing a lawsuit against the city or developer. We simply want to be sure we’re being as smart as possible in the process. So with your help, we will retain these experienced attorneys as consultants.

This of course comes at a cost. The land use attorneys we have identified are giving us a discounted hourly rate ($300 and $400) and as you would expect, they do require an up front retainer of $2500.
If you would like to see our campaign succeed, will you please consider making a donation to help us retain these attorneys? We promise to be wise in our use of the funds. We will keep you up to date with progress via our soon to be launched newsletter, and will be happy to provide an accounting of expenditures on request.

Thank you for your consideration. The developer plans to file his final concept amendment in weeks, not months, so time is obviously of the essence. So if you’re interested in helping preserve a sustainable, safe and happy neighborhood, will you please make your donation right away?

When the dust settles, in the unlikely event that there are leftover funds in the account, they will be donated to the local Habitat for Humanity.

Thank you in advance for your support!
