Feed Our Wild Wombats
Donation protected
Fire has razed our beautiful property Aroona located just outside of Braidwood NSW. Two weeks ago a bush fire raged out of Tallaganda National Park heading east straight for us. The aftermath of the fire is heart breaking. Many animals were unable to burrow down or out run the fire front and most of the ancient old gums were burnt to oblivion.

We had been working hard to set up Aroona Retreat and Sanctuary for native animal rehabilitation and release. Aroona is an aboriginal word which appears in a few language groups, sometimes meaning "moving water" or "place to stop and refresh".
Our little block rests on the Shoalhaven River and is neighboured by 200 acres of crown land. There are no main roads and our nearest neighbours love nature as much as we do. It was perfect country for wombats to stop and refresh. We have released a few wombats on site and there are many, many wild ones.
This is Henry slowly getting use to the idea of leaving his dedicated carers and moving into his new burrow.
After the fires however Aroona is now black and desolate with not a blade of grass to be found. I have been putting out special wombat hay and pellets however with no rain in sight I suspect the feeding will go on for some time.

I would love to get the wombats safely through this time and continue to feed them until the grass comes back and if possible extend the feed stations further a field with your financial assistance.
Please help me save our precious wombats!
