Bone Marrow Transplant for 5 year old Anamika

Donation protected
Dear Friends,

Our names are Arjun and Emily Badi and we are fundraising for a dear Christian family who are members of Bethany Church in Banepa (Arjun's church in Nepal). We, along with some of our Christian friends, have known this lovely, faithful Christian family for a number of years.

Bethany Church members and friends have been praying for the treatment and miraculous recovery of little Anamika over her lifetime. Anamika is the 5-year-old daughter of two strong and faithful Christian parents, Kumar and Gamala Magarati. Kumar is the Worship Leader in Bethany Church.

Anamika was born with a very rare condition called Thalassemia. Her body does not adequately produce haemoglobin and red blood cells. Subsequently, she has received, and continues to regularly receive, constant blood transfusions in Kanti Children's Hospital, a paedeatric hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal. This is trying on her little body and these blood transfusions are temporary and unsustainable. The only cure for Anamika's condition is a bone marrow transplant.

This is a huge operation. For a number of years the thought of trying to raise the money for such an operation has seemed impossible and unthinkable. However, after research and much prayer, a bone marrow transplant has finally been scheduled at the Civil Service Hospital of Nepal in Kathmandu and the family is stepping out in faith to ask for practical support. The doctor scheduled to perform Anamika's bone marrow transplant is Dr. Bishesh Sharma Poudyal, who is an Associate Professor and Chief of Clinical Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the Civil Service Hospital in Nepal. He is known for taking part in pioneering the first Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program in Nepal. Anamika's father, Kumar, is set to donate the bone marrow after recent tests were conducted to match him as a successful related donor.

The cost of a bone marrow transplant is extremely high. The Magarati family live in poor conditions and are unable to fund this transplant on their own. The cost provided by the hospital is 25 lakhs in Nepali rupees (approximately 23,000 USD).

At first, the appeal of this fund was sent to only a few people, however, as we can vouch for the family's real and heartbreaking challenges and have seen the way that these parents have faithfully and patiently prayed for their daughter with humble hearts, we have decided to create this GoFundMe to help them raise the support they need. We are doing this because we know them and their faith personally, we are aware of the real conditions in which they live, and realise that their limited connections mean that practically this appeal needs to go further than their small community.

We share this in faith and hope - a faith and hope that God will provide practically through generous known and anonymous donations, in what we feel is humanly inconceivable. We truly believe that anything is possible with God and that He genuinely cares for His faithful children practically.

We appeal to you on behalf of this Christian family for 1) your prayerful support, and 2) your financial support. Kumar and Gamala Magarati's statement is that "We believe your support will not only help treat her condition but will also give glory to our God who cares for little ones like her." We trust in God's perfect will and plan for Anamika, and that God will use Anamika's life and testimony to bring glory to Himself and bring others to know Christ personally.

On behalf of the Magarati family and Bethany Church in Nepal,

Arjun & Emily Badi
