Bonnie Leigh, CMP
Donation protected
For the past year and a half, Bonnie Leigh, CMP, has been struggling physically from injuries that occurred in March of 2017 when she slipped and on a floor that had been washed at a nurse’s station while at work. There was no “wet floor” sign. Her foot went over her head, and she landed on her hands and knees resulting in a broken right arm and damage to her hands and wrists, as well as both knees. Even after months of therapy, her hands continue to swell and are very painful.
At first, she could hardly pick up a teacup and was unable to play any of her instruments. She has lost 40% of range of motion in her hands and wrists, and most of her strength in her arms. Her knee gives out on her unexpectedly. Bonnie has been unable to work, i.e., practice her profession as a Certified Music Practitioner (CMP), since her accident.
She was initially awarded workman’s comp and began physical therapy, but after three months, was dropped by workman’s comp, and her physical therapy stopped.
Bonnie has been paying for physical therapy and doctor’s appointments herself since January of 2018 and, with little improvement, is still unable to work. Her medical bills and household bills are mounting, and she has exhausted all other financial resources.
Bonnie is a working musician and Certified Music Practitioner working for Hospice and other organizations, teaching mountain and hammered dulcimer & folk harp and is a singer-songwriter. Her injuries prevent her from earning a living. As her friends and fellow musicians, we are reaching out to the dulcimer community and music community at large and asking for donations of any amount to assist Bonnie in these challenging times. We are setting up this GoFundMe account on her behalf to help her pay her medical bills and other expenses so she can get back on her feet.
