Bonterre CIC is a not-for-profit organisation, providing education and wellbeing services on a rural small-holding just north of Worcester. We support local children that aren’t thriving in a mainstream classroom setting and are struggling to access education. We help children with a wide range of needs, including Special Education Needs and Disabilities, such as ADHD and autistic spectrum conditions, those with mental health conditions and those that have experienced abuse or trauma.

We provide tailored activities using the land, farm animals and nature to engage with children, teaching them vital life-skills, building their self-confidence and helping them to move forwards in their lives. We help children re-engage with mainstream education or transition to a specialist education place.

We also run community wellbeing group sessions and workshops for adults. We work to reduce social isolation and help those suffering with anxiety or depression to learn new skills and connect with others in their community.

This year Bonterre CIC is celebrating its 10th anniversary as an organisation. Since the Covid-19 pandemic we have seen a significant increase in the numbers of both children and adults needing our support. We are in desperate need of suitable buildings and facilities to continue the work we do and reach more people. We currently only have a collection of sheds, shipping containers and repurposed lorry backs making it really hard to provide indoor space where everyone can get warm and dry all year round.

We are seeking donations to help us fund a new building on site. This would house a suitably sized kitchen to cater for our increasing numbers, and a warm space for all of our students to sit down together. For us eating lunch together is hugely important. For some students we provide their only hot meal of the day and it creates a sense of belonging and feeling part of a wider family which they may be missing.

The building would also provide vital additional space to host more group events and activities for the local community, helping everyone to get out into the countryside and connect more with nature.
