Book Week 2025 - Author Corner

Last year, the Friends of Reepham Primary School raised £355 for our Book Week 2024 campaign, which helped us fund author and illustrator Kate Reed's visit during Book Week 2025.

To ensure this magic continues for the next year, and our children continue to benefit from such incredible enriching opportunities, we are raising funds again and our target is £1000. Raising this amount will ensure we can schedule two author visits in the next year.

Bringing authors into primary schools offers a multitude of benefits for both students and educators alike. Firstly, it provides students with a direct and engaging connection to the world of literature, fostering a love for reading and writing from a young age. Interacting with authors allows children to see the real people behind the books they enjoy, demystifying the writing process and inspiring them to pursue their own creative endeavors. Additionally, author visits can enhance literacy skills by offering insights into storytelling techniques, character development, and the importance of revision and editing. These experiences also promote critical thinking and communication skills as students engage in discussions with authors about their works. Furthermore, having authors visit primary schools promotes diversity and representation in literature, exposing students to a wide range of perspectives and cultures. Overall, author visits enrich the educational experience, leaving a lasting impact on students and encouraging a lifelong appreciation for literature and creativity.
