Help Lexi Get Her Diploma
Hello,
My name is Lewinski Lopez (Lexi) and I am a senior at St. Lawrence University majoring in English, Performance & communication.
In order to receive my diploma, my family contribution needs to be paid in full. I used to work 3 jobs to cover the costs of my own education because my family is not financially stable and they don’t see the importance of a good education.
I have struggled a lot with my mental and physical health while working 3 jobs just to finish college. I was hospitalized multiple times due to exhaustion my last semester when I worked as a CA. Somehow I was able to keep my grades at or above a 3.0 which allowed me to keep my scholarships.
I was admitted into a mental hospital this past Christmas and they gave me a diagnosis I did not feel comfortable with. I was misdiagnosed multiple times and I ended up in the hospital for two weeks in January after my meds made me manic enough that I wanted to end my life.
I was so heavily medicated that I was basically a zombie trying to exist when they added more medication to my list because of diabetes.
It hasn't been easy at all dealing with PTSD, bipolar disorder, and diabetes. I didn't even get the chance to walk my graduation but I came back for my last semester in the summer and now I find out that I owe more money than I ever had in the past.
I am tired of explaining to admissions my situation and every semester someone at admissions would tell me something along the lines of if I can't afford it to just quit. I am so close to being the first to graduate in a family that doesn't care about higher education.
I hope you will consider donating,
Thank You
Lexi
