Books for Kenya Grade Schools
Steuerlich absetzbar
Imagine your world without books.... No electronic reader filled with books, no shelves of books to read, no library to borrow books from. If you are like me and love to read, this sounds like the start to a good horror movie. But in rural areas throughout the world this is the only reality they know. It is not uncommon for a child to never have used a book. A school “library” may be a single shelf of books locked away in the headmaster’s office. Relief for Africa, a charity in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Books for Africa have partnered with me in hopes of getting children books to rural schools in Kenya. Books for Africa sends books out by 40 foot containers to rural areas asking only for help with shipping and clearing costs. I want to furnish at least 6 schools with 5000 books each. 4 of the schools I have chosen, I have been to and these are schools that I will continue to visit each time I go home to Kenya.
Here is a list of the schools these books will go to:
School Kadie Primary and Secondary
Student Population 950
School Embakasi North
Student Population 200
School Kolweny
Student Population 1000
School Saint Peter's (Mwiruti) Primary and Secondary
Student Population 1600
School Kiminini Primary
Student Population 1200
School Oriang Primary and Secondary
Student Population about 800
Relief for Africa and Books for Africa charities have teamed up to make this happen.
