Books For Kids and Families In Need
I am raising $75,000 for books for Bay Area African American children and children of color who need books and are out of school for the remainder of the year. Many of these children are without computers and quality reading material to support them in distance learning. Without these tools, these children will be further marginalized and could slip behind in their school lessons. Many of these children are from low income families and don’t have funds to buy books. And so now with the quarantine, school is closed and so are the libraries. By providing books we can help these kids through these difficult times and provide culturally relevant books to increase their reading skills and boost their spirit.
I am an entrepreneur and a bookseller. I specialize in African American and Multi-Cultural Children’s Books Baby-3 and K-12. I sell books to schools and the majority of my books meet core curriculum standards. On my website, AshaybytheBay.com we have over 750 Books. I would like to offer $25 and $50 Ashay By The Bay Gift Cards to students /families who need books for their children. The books can be part of their lesson plans or books for their reading enjoyment. These students and families will be identified, by contacting local school districts and collaborating with educators. My company Ashay ByThe Bay will do the fulfillment, provide the Gift Cards and ship the books for FREE. I am already connected with all the School Districts in the Bay Area and several more in the US.
The Books For Kids And Families In Need Program is posted on my website and social media. In this way we can get books to children and families quickly while they are out of school and sheltering in. Teachers will email or mail the Gift Cards to the Parents, who will do the purchasing. When they use their Gift Cards they can take advantage of discounts and promotions and the Gift Cards will not have an expiration date.
https://ashaybythebay.com/products/rise-ai-giftcard The Gift Cards issued would be $25 - $50 depending on the number of children in the family. A $50 Gift Card could purchase 3-7 books depending on if they are hardcover or paperback. $25 would purchase 2-3 books.
Expenses include the cost of the books which might be 40-50% margin. All books are new and only about 5% are overstocks. Other expenses include labor (ordering, stocking and handling the books) as well as maintaining the website and shipping materialsAll expenses are covered in the book retail price.
The funds are needed right now and I have inventory. I plan to add this program to the website ASAP and begin building my team and seeking future volunteers. I have a home based business and this program is very manageable. Giving books to children of color to read will make a measurable impact in their lives as they transition to distance learning. Let’s help them all we can and provide books that will empower them and take them to the next level. For more information contact me 1-844-543-7732
