Help Give Books To Special-Needs Children
Donation protected
My mother, Kathy, is an educator who’s worked for 20 years as a Speech and Language pathologist in the public school system. She loves music, and as a singer/songwriter, she’s written and performed her own educational children’s songs on her guitar for kids in schools, libraries, and churches for years.
She’s composed educational Christian songs along with secular educational songs which were especially loved by her special-needs students in the public school system. The way God worked through her music to help children with special needs was nothing short of amazing — particularly with the severe and profoundly disabled students.
Helping children learn has always been my mother’s passion. She used to play the guitar and dance and sing together with them. Unfortunately, she was forced to retire due to a stroke she suffered in 2022. This stroke has left her unable to use the whole right side of her body (she’s right-handed) or see properly. My mother can no longer sing or play guitar or dance or write songs or teach. Her whole career, she had worked with students from preschool through high school and had always loved educating God’s children, but suddenly, all at once, she couldn’t do anything anymore.
However, like my mother always says: Satan may delay her, but he won’t defeat her!
All is not lost – in order to ensure that my mother’s work continues to help educate children, I have teamed up with my sister Meagan, an illustrator, to begin the work of turning our mom’s children’s songs into children’s books to assist teachers and parents in providing math, language and literacy, listening comprehension, and character skills instruction to their young kids. We’ve already got the first book, Can You Guess the Color, ready for production, and we want to donate this book to special-needs children all over the country.
To do this, we are raising money to get enough books printed so that we can donate them to:
- Special-Needs Preschool Students
- Mildly Intellectually Disabled (MID) Elementary Students
- Moderately Intellectually Disabled (MOID) Elementary Students
- Autistic Elementary Students
- Severe And Profound Intellectually Disabled (SID/PID) Students - All Ages
We are trying to raise enough money to print 500 books to begin our donations, with the hope of much more to come. These books will bring God's blessing to special-needs children, who are so often forgotten, and will help further our mom's legacy of doing God's work among this population.
Please help us by sending your donations, however small, so that we can achieve this dream!
