Bo Razon World Music Album
Greetings, everyone!
It has been 18 years since my last album project and now it feels right to get started on the next one. In the intervening years, I have continued to play with many artists and musicians from different cultures around the globe, allowing me to absorb even more influences and inspiration from within the pan-global musical spectrum.
We live in a time where more cross-cultural exchange and understanding is needed. There is a greater urgency today for people to discover their own roots & cultural traditions as well as to explore those of their neighbors in the global community. Only by understanding each other & discovering where we're coming from can we begin to see the commonalities that bind us all together and, at the same time, appreciate the colorful characteristics that make each of our cultures unique.
I have been blessed with the gift of music as my channel & mode of expression and have been fortunate enough to travel the world playing, sharing, & absorbing music with many artists & musicians from many cultures- Asia, Africa, the Americas, the Caribbean, & Europe. It is now time for me again to coalesce the influences & inspirations over the years into an album of World Music. To help realize this dream, I truly need your support & generosity through this crowdfunding endeavour.
The intial (Phase One) funding will be used to consolidate the material for the album and to secure the production aspect of it. To co-produce the album, I shall enlist an old friend, Greg Landau, a multi-awarded Grammy nominee producer who has worked with artists like Buena Vista Social Club, David Byrne, Pete Seeger, Susana Baca(Peru), Omar Sosa(Cuba), and many more. He has also produced film music for Oliver Stone, Peter & Benjamin Bratt, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., CNN. HBO & PBS among others. Greg produced ten Grammy-nominated CDs for various groups over the years. Together, we will secure some mutual friends ('homies') from our San Francisco days to play on the album; some of these musicians have been with Santana, Stevie Winwood, Sergio Mendes, etc. and are well-known in Jazz, Latin, Pop, & World Music circles. Aside from paying performance fees for the musical luminaries who will play on the album, Phase One funding will also help in the costs of laying down basic tracks for the tunes.
Once the CD is out, there are multi-tiered appreciation perks for funding contributors. A brand new year has started and I am just settling into a new home in the East Coast, and so it is time to get this project up and running. It would mean the world to me to secure this initial funding as soon as possible and I would be eternally grateful to all of you that help me get this started.
