Boston Bound

Hi, my name is David

After a year and a half of no races due to the pandemic, my son found this little 10k race at the start of June 2021 in Santa Rosa, NM. we completed the race. I ran mostly 10k’s, but ran a half marathon in October 2021. Somehow, this full marathon in Buckeye, Arizona, crossed my page. I made a mental checklist of everything I thought I might want in a marathon, elevation, if it was a Boston qualifier. This race was a perfect fit, so my family went with me in January 2022 to see me run a qualifying time for the 2023 Boston Marathon.

That was all I had wanted, was just to qualify for Boston; I didn’t necessarily want to go to Boston, I started talking with people who had been to Boston, I realized it was more than just another race, but a whole new experience where the entire city would be there to watch me run. It was described to me as the super bowl of marathons, and the more people talked it up, the more I wanted to see for myself.

So I submitted an entry, got accepted, and now I’m going. It’s a year and a half in the making, from that first little 10k to now getting ready to run one of the most famous and well known marathons in America, and I’ve got a lot of people to thank for it.
