Boston Children's Hospital Miles for Miracles

Earlier this year, I was offered the opportunity to run in the 2023, Boston Marathon, which has been a dream of mine for quite some time. I would like to specifically thank one of my good friends, Bailey Grant, for not only gifting me this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity but also for believing in me. Words cannot express how much your support means to me! As I train and prepare to run in the Boston Marathon, I would like to raise money for a foundation that is near and dear to me; Boston Children's Hospital's Miles for Miracles.

In the summer of 2012, I was admitted to Boston Children's Hospital. I had severe stomach pains; I was unable to eat, and I experienced extreme weight loss, and also loss of energy and strength. Doctors were baffled by my case and had no idea what was wrong with me. However, they did not give up on me. After a month-long stay in Children's, I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease.

Similarly to me, my nephew Eddy was admitted to Boston Children's Hospital, stayed for about a month, and was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. His visit was during the height of COVID-19. Due to the pandemic, he was only allowed one visitor, so his dad stayed with him day in and day out while his mom was at home with his newborn brother. Luckily for Eddy, he had a great team of nurses and doctors who kept him company and boosted his spirit.

I can attest firsthand, to all of the amazing things Boston Children's Hospital does for kids. Each employee there goes above and beyond to help patients and families feel comfortable and cared for. The workers at Boston Children's Hospital were so kind and diligent in helping Eddy and me, so I would like to give back as a way of showing my gratitude for giving us both a better quality of life.
