ABOUT THE FILM-
Bottlecap is a 13-minute fictional film created by Emerson students as a BFA project, that examines how the fear of police affects people's view of justice. The story focuses on Peter who has a deep fear, and mistrust of police. with all the cases of police brutality and corruption peter feels as if he has nowhere to turn too.
WHY THE FILM-
Jordan Breveleri the writer and director of Bottlecap is very passionate about this film, It is a reflection of his own fears and mistrust that he has with the police. Jordan wanted to find a unique way to share these feeling of fear, and how they affect people. After collaborating with other artists he decided to focus on views of justice. How might not being able to trust the police affect someone's view of punishment? how will people find justice? these are questions that came up in the brainstorming process. We decided to take inspiration from shows like Daredevil, and Punisher. These are shows that talk about ideas like revenge, fear, and wanting to protect a community. Using these as inspiration we came up with the character Bottlecap; a person that fears the police, and is deeply hurt by the crime in his community. Bottlecap takes justice into his own hands, and tries to make a difference.
STORY-
Bottlecap is an Emerson college BFA film. It follows the protagonist Peter, who meets a journalist named Wendy that makes him question the meaning of justice. Determined to protect his community and punish Criminals he becomes a vigilante named Bottlecap. When Wendy and Peters view of justice clash, Peter is left unsure of the way to punish criminals. How does Peter overcome these complex ideas of justice?

WHAT WE NEED-
The funds from this campaign will go towards equipment (Special camera), crafty, locations, transportation, cast, distribution, editing, and production design.
Equipment-
We will be shooting with a wide range of professional equipment, which can get pretty expensive. Any amount donated will help us shoot with the most up-to-date, professional equipment we can find to make this film look and sound perfect.
Crafty-
During our six day shoot, we will be feeding our crew breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our priority is to keep them fed, hydrated, and happy during our long days. Our crew and actors will be provided with ample snacks and hot meals to keep them productive and healthy for the duration of the shoot.
Locations-
The locations for Bottle Cap range from a market to a lumber yard to a darkroom, with everything in between. We need funds to lock down these locations, as well as the permits to shoot in these locations.
Transportation-
Since these locations are all over the city, we will need money to safely transport our cast, crew, equipment, props, and more.
Cast-
The production crew at Bottle Cap wants to pay our talented actors for the great job they are going to do during our long 6 day shoot.
Contingency-
Our team wants to be prepared for any unforeseen expenses in case anything goes off course during shooting. Hopefully, nothing big will go wrong, but one can never be too prepared!
Distribution-
We will be submitting Bottle Cap to multiple film festivals. Submitting can get expensive, and we need your help to cover the cost!
Editing/Post Production-
Post-production includes all stages of production occurring after shooting. That includes sound design, color correction, music scores, and more. The comic book inspiration of our film especially needs these factors to be perfect. This will include hiring a sound engineer, a colorist, and collaborating with professional musicians.
Production Design-
Our production design/art direction will be highly curated based on our comic book inspiration. The art team is working really hard to create the world of the characters with delicate set dressing and costume design. Since the Emerson College prop warehouse is closed for the semester, we especially need your help to accomplish the aesthetics and design we want to achieve.
Creating a film is hard work! There are countless risks involved, and the production team on Bottle Cap is dedicated to making sure the final product is perfect. The donations that come from this campaign are a way we are going to ensure the challenges we face during production are overcame.
